The artist’s shoes
My first painting class in two years started at 9:30 this morning. Since I’m not so good in the morning, I laid out everything I thought I’d need, including my clothes. But not my shoes. Then I thought of this image and realized that there is a fine art to selecting ‘painting’ shoes. They must be comfortable enough to stand for hours but also destroyable. These ones, in a studio in Bruges, are almost a piece of art on their own.
Thus a last minute rummage through my shoe box to find ‘painting’ shoes – right now they look awful but if they ever get this photogenic I’ll be posting them…
Incidentally, this artist had a studio gallery in Bruges (Belgium). We never met him, as he was in Paris organizing a show, but had a lively discussion with his wife as we toured the gallery and painting studio. His name is Svein Koningen and samples of his work can be found at http://www.koningen.net/
