Located in the Recoleta, the ritziest part of Buenos Aires, La Biela Café is a great place for people watching while knocking back a strong, overpriced coffee. A ‘biela’ is a part of a car engine, which is quite appropriate as the café catered to race car drivers way back when.
Even more appropriate, just outside the café there was a display of antique race cars on the day we visited. It was interesting to see that antique cars in Buenos Aires seem much older then any classic cars that show up in Vancouver, but maybe that’s just because race cars have so many interesting extras that appear so different than anything I’ve ever seen.
