Sitting in a pub down by the city port, watching the freight trains rumble by just outside the window, and wondering what they are carrying inside their containers and where they are going.
The Alibi Room is one of my favourite drinking holes in Vancouver. It’s at the far end of Gastown, an area that has been gentrifying in a way that horrifies the locals. Down in the lower level there are more containers: casks and kegs. There are several really interesting art galleries just across and around the corner from the Alibi Room. And of course they have beer, and really good food too, considering they are known for their beer. This is their ‘Smoked Albacore Tuna Salad’, which certainly isn’t your typical pub food. If you stop in Vancouver and love beer, then the Alibi Room is one place you really shouldn’t miss.
