We got a couple of kumquats as a going away present from our cooking class, and man, the first one was so sour we left the other one as a gift for the maid!
We stopped at a kumquat orchard on the bike tour included on our cooking class. They look like small shiny oranges.
Back in the class they were preparing kumquats.
They are peeled using a razor and taking off paper thin slices.
They are extremely sour and candying them makes them not only edible but scrumptious.

More about the tropical fruits of South East Asia:
Love kumquats! and never tried one until I moved to Asia… clearly been missing out my whole life. 😉
They have such a jolt of citrus even when they’re candied!

Didn’t know they were that sour! I have only ever tried one in a kumquat mojito and that was delicious 🙂
That sounds good!
