Travel Theme: The Slow Time of Day

In Spain they call it ‘siesta’. I’m not sure what they call it in Mandalay but there is definitely a time of day when the heat becomes intolerable and everyone slows down, except for us, of course.

The phrase ‘only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noon day sun‘ seemed somehow appropriate for us in the former British colony of Myanmar. Here are some shots of people who were a lot smarter than we were!

The temples and pagodas are a favourite place to spend the hottest part of the day.
