In Mandalay there were many versions of Buddha for sale.
These ones were made of brightly-coloured gilded wood. But they looked infinitely more interesting and mysterious from behind, with only their shadowed silhouettes showing on the white cloth backdrop.
I didn’t take any photos of the Buddhas from the front. However, the woman selling the Buddhas posed for me in front of her wooden puppets, which were painted in a similar style to the Buddhas.

The photo of the woman is so beautiful! The the lighting and the leaves on her face!
I thought she was stunning too, especially her expression and hands. I kind of wish that there weren’t all those puppets in the background…
No! I think they look great in there! It adds detail and character to the photo!!
