I had no idea what I could post about this week’s theme of ‘tiny’ from Ailsa.
Until I decended into my garden and was accosted by a tiny creature. She tilted her head one way and then the other, really checking me out. She chick-chick-chicked several times and then with a hum of tiny wings got back to what she was really interested in, the red trumpet-shaped flowers…

congratulations! lovely shots of this female Rufous hummingbird!
Guess I better change the pronoun from he to she! There is another one with a ruby throat – is that the male Rufous?
yes — the male Rufous has a ruby throat and is predominantly brown on his head and back (unless you have the rare green-backed male Rufouses — they do exist!) 🙂
just to muddy the waters, the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird actually has a ruby throat. but it would be exceedingly rare to see a RTH west of the Rockies! 🙂
‘He’ has a green back – lucky me!
Great shots!
I just love visiting with these tiny birds – they always check me out before they hit the flowers…
The last photo of the three is amazing! Frame it up!
I love that first photo. They are such lovely little birds.
