When we were inside the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Rouen, the lighting caused the interior to became a study in grey.
Vaulted ceiling created out of Gothic arches.
A stone staircase leads up to a secret room. The gradations of grey follow the supporting columns down to the dark interior spaces. Worn stone statues of saints and bishops stood guard at one side of the cathedral.I’m not sure why this bishop is missing the top of his head, but the flat-bottomed hat he is holding should fit perfectly if only he could wrest it from his stone hands.
More stone statues… More of Ailsa’s Travel Theme: Grey.
