Situations that are primarily dark and light usually make for dramatic photos. Here are some of my favourites.

Indoors without flash.

Outdoors at night without flash.

Super sunny light with heavy shadow.

Organic ‘craft’ tequila-making in Mexico.
The sun flares around a walker in Valladolid, Spain.

A dark-skinned person wearing white clothing near their face.

A Bedouin man at a sheep auction in Isreal.
A man playing in a brass band for the wedding parade in Bundi, India. I rarely use flash although it would have been helpful in the last two images to bring out details in the person’s face. All of these photos have had a touch (sometimes a heavy touch) of the ‘Shadows/Highlights’ adjustment in Photoshop.
