September 30: Roundstone to Long and then Galway.
Some scenery on our drive to Cong.
The movie ‘The Quiet Man’ with John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara was filmed in Cong.
The Pat Cohen Bar featured in the movie ‘The Quiet Man’ is still there.
We opted for a Connacht Pale Ale but everyone coming in ordered an Irish coffee.
Two of the women ordering the Irish coffees explained that they were on a bus tour. It wasn’t too bad but in the end they had to take their coffees to go, one of the nort so fun things of being on a bus tour with a bunch of other people. Here the barman is showing us how he makes an Irish coffee.
Tombstones with a mass of Celtic crosses in Cong Abbey.
Afterwards we went for a walk around the town.
From there we drove to Galway, arriving in the early evening.
Artsy bit for this post: the Celtic cemetery and ruins in Cong in Ireland, run through the photo apps Stackables & Distressed FX.
NEXT: The next morning was spent exploring Galway.
