Ucluelet on Vancouver Island is transitioning from a fishing village to a tourist destination.
First we went on a walk along the 8 km Wild Pacific Trail. Then we toured the town.
Old shingled boathouse.
An old man with a suitcase waiting for a bus in Ucluelet.
A fish gate.
Typical shingled house left over from the fifties, with driftwood sculptures and old weathered boats parked in the trees.
There are a dozen wharves at Ucluelet – this is the main one.
An old but still working fishing boat.
The rusty front of a boat tied up at a Ucluelet dock.
Waterline.
The scary ‘Jaws’ boat reflected in the water.
Fake fisherman on a wharf.
All that walking deserves a treat of a brownie and coffee at Barkley Coffee.

I opened the photo and enlarged it and still can’t tell whether the old man with the suitcase is real or fake. 😀 And the fish gate is superb.
You got me wondering too – after all there was that fake fisherman. Even looking at the full-size version I thought, ‘well if he’s fake they did a better job of him than with the fisherman.’ Then I found this in my husband’s pictures: https://albatz.files.wordpress.com/2019/04/17seuclueletboatoldmansuitcase4159w.jpg
Hahha! Well, mystery solved. 😀 Thanks for having a look!
I love photographing boats and the more life worn they are the more interesting they are.
As befits an island there are lots of boats in this region!
Nice, I liked the photo of the old man.
There’s something beautiful about really old people that still get out and about!
