To my mind the best ‘golden hour’ shots are found at places with an open-air area to stop in.
Gin & tonic with peanuts & golden hour, Koh Lanta, Thailand.
A beer and a margarita on the beach at Daddy’s Cafe on Palau Pangkor, with the best food in Malaysia.
Cerveza bien fria in a restaurant in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Almost all pubs/bars/restaurants in the warmer parts of Mexico are open-air, ‘air conditioned’ they call it..
Of course, just walking around a town in the early evening can be spectacular as seen by this golden hour in Segovia, Spain.
If you start early you can catch all the phases of late afternoon and evening light, especially in the northern countries in May and June.
Early evening with a delicious Scraggy Bay IPA beer at the Beachcomber Bar on Fanad Peninsula, Ireland.
Six Mile Pub is an historical pub along the old stagecoach route on Vancouver Island, Canada. Loads of atmosphere, a view over the river and some traditional ‘British’ fare like Scotch Eggs on their menu make this great place to stop.
Grebbestad in Sweden, admiring the sunlight slanting through my beer.
Reflection of Al sitting on the outside patio at the John Bull Pub in Aalborg, Denmark.
In Brussels, Belgium, Le Roy d’Espagne (the King of Spain) building with its verdigris dome catches the golden hour light.
Holland in June was all about spending the evening with people. This crew, in Delft, upon finding out we were tourists immediately invited themselves to our place! “You are from America? Canada? You have a big house? A swimming pool? We are coming to stay with you!!!”

These are great photos. You’re making me hungry (and thirsty) but I love it. That last photo is delightful to see.
The Dutch were delightful, mischievous and with such fantastic English that nothing was ever lost in translation (although that can be interesting too!)
Golden hour lovely, but leave out the peanuts!
Oh my goodness, I have to have peanuts – they make a big difference in the experience…
😄😄 Sadly they wouldn’t enhance the experience for me other than in chicken satay!
