The Roman aqueduct in Segovia, Spain was built around the 1st century AD.
The local golden stone was used to create a two-tiered structure of arches that carried water to the city’s inhabitants. It is well-preserved and withstood the ravages of time. The aqueduct butts up against a plaza in the historic city.Map of our route from Peñafiel to Valladolid and through Cuéllar and Segovia to Madrid.More on our 2014 trip to Northern Spain.
