Up at Dad’s for the week and going crazy in his garden, gathering fruits and vegetables for dinner, with leftover ‘hodgepodge’ for breakfast the next day. Nothing beats fresh produce from the garden!
What’s for dinner? How about fresh lettuce salad drizzled with olive oil and apple cider vinegar, plus my brother Rob’s ‘hodgepodge’: spuds straight from the garden boiled up and then fried in bacon fat along with onions (fresh), mushrooms and parsley (fresh), and bacon with left-over chicken as the entreé. And since we’re in Naramata it is accompanied by Naramata Nut Brown Ale or Anarchist Ale.
For dessert, fresh-picked rhubarb and raspberries with a dollop of vanilla yogurt.
Left-over hodgepodge is good for breakfast too, with the first batch of ripe cherry tomatoes.

hodge podge? never heard of it but it looks delicous for dinner or brekkie!
That reminds me I have to go pick lettuce today and I’m going to have to find some of that nut brown ale somewhere!
I think ‘hodgepodge’ is what my brother’s kids call this mixup of potatoes, onions and parsley fried in bacon fat. He promises me a recipe for what the kids call ‘Christmas in the Mouth’ when the prune plums are ready!
Most excellent. One of the best I’ve seen. Nicely done!
Wow! Fantastic example for the Weekly Photo Challenge! Keep up the great work!
